MAKE MUSIC DAY: Jazz Jam in L5P, 7-9pm in Findley Plaza
This Summer Solstice, join the L5PBA’s Jazz Jam for National Make Music Day. Thirty years ago The Gold Sparkle Jazz Band got their start playing music in front of Major Furniture (now Southern Star Tattoo) in Findley Plaza. The three original members would meet up every so often to liven up Little 5 Points, before eventually moving to NYC to continue their successful careers. While the Gold Sparkle Band may no longer be playing in the plaza, anyone with an instrument can join in the tradition on Tuesday, June 21st from 7-9pm.
Make Music is a free celebration of music around the world on June 21st. Launched in 1982 in France as the Fête de la Musique, it is now held on the same day in more than 1,000 cities in 120 countries. This is the first year Atlanta is taking part.
If you play or know any interested musicians, come on out!
